Pared down to its barest essence, wabi-sabi is the Japanese art of finding beauty in imperfection and profundity in nature... It celebrates cracks and crevices and all the other marks that time, weather, and loving use leave behind... Wabi-sabi is underplayed and modest, the kind of quiet, undeclared beauty that waits patiently to be discovered.

This is a personal blog I have set up for the purpose of documenting my creative journey.
Pencil drawing has been a hobby of mine for a long time, one which I have been doing more and more of in recent years. I have no training or qualifications in it, however, and so find myself coming up against a lot of walls and struggling to improve as much as I would like. Doing any kind of paid course isn't really an option for me at the moment, so I have been looking for free online courses, lessons, and tutorials to try to acquire knowledge and develop my skills. I have also started to work with dip pens and ink and hope to go on to painting in the future.
One such free course I have come across is http://painting-course.com/. In this site's second video he recommended starting a blog for identifying your goal and documenting your journey towards that goal. He suggests using it as a space to upload one's own observation sketches and imaginative creations, link source imagery, and exploring and becoming familiar with the best artists working in the genre you want to work in.
The kind of art I am most interested in is Manga ; Japanese comics. I love the fusion of storytelling and art. My castle-in-the-air ultimate goal is to become a manga artist myself, or at least to be able to write and illustrate my own stories. I currently lack the talent and the discipline for such an undertaking, but I hope that this blog will help me to grow on both points.
